Statement from Easy-Trim Marketing Director regarding UK Construction Week 2017

October 27th 2017

As the Build Show headline sponsor for 2017, we at Easy-Trim meticulously planned over a number of months a stand and concept that supported our current marketing message, #WhyGamble ? As a British based manufacturer of roofing ventilation and dry fix products, with significant continued investment in machinery, tooling and staff development, we believe given the uncertainty with both Brexit and current capacity and skill shortages, there is no better time to support and promote British manufacturing to avoid the potential risks associated with importing product to fill material supply demands. Our stand design, theme, and elements were all based on supporting this statement in a fun and diverse way. Our stand consisted of a full sized Roulette Wheel and Black Jack table, and a fun oversized One Arm Bandit, and to support this we engaged ‘themed professionals’, specifically a male and female croupier, a male Elvis impersonator, two female professional stilt walkers in traditional Vegas show girl outfits, and two female professional dancers also in traditional Vegas show girl outfits. The rest of our team wore either a dinner suit and bow tie or black formal dress, again all to support the theme.

Over the event the stand was hugely popular with both male and female visitors and the show culminated with our business being awarded ‘Best in Show’ for stand build, theme and effort applied.

As Marketing Director for Easy-Trim and being a female professional in the construction industry, I am passionate about our brand, our development, the diversity across our business and its work force, and of course promoting diversity and equal opportunity throughout the industry. Our core principles resonate throughout everything we do, and for any element of our stand at this event to upset just one person causes myself and all the team, both female and male considerable regret and upset and for this we apologise. We support the free delivery of opinion through social media and there has been mixed review. Again I want to ensure this is taken on board however reaffirm that our theme and the concept was to deliver a message, not to disrespect anyone’s views, nor indicate a lack of support of continual improvement in diversification in our sector.

I again want to apologise for any upset caused and stress that each element of the stand was as important as the other and made up our vision of the stand theme. We are a progressive business as I am a progressive female in our sector, and I trust the enclosed goes some way to assure you of our intent.
